We love Lochwood Academy and are so glad we found this place after moving to Sanford. Our daughter has blossomed under Ms. Shana and we went from enrolling her in one class to two plus summer camp musical. All a wonderful experience and she’s really coming into her own with confidence and ability.
Hi, I’m Mindy Byerts Hogaboom—the Studio Director here at Lochwood Academy.
As a passionate clarinet and piano instructor with years of experience, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing students grow and develop their love for music.
But more important than the notes they play… are the life skills they build along the way.
Because learning music is so much more than just reading sheet music and practicing scales.
It’s about developing confidence, discipline, creativity, and perseverance.
With every lesson, students strengthen their focus, determination, and self-expression. Music provides instant positive feedback—helping them see and feel their progress, boosting their self-esteem, and encouraging a lifelong love for learning.
And of course… it’s a ton of FUN!
That’s why I love teaching music in this community, and why I know your child is going to LOVE their musical journey.
Music lessons help kids build confidence and stay focused. They feel proud as they improve with each new song.
Learning music strengthens memory, coordination, and listening. It supports problem-solving and academic growth in fun ways.
Kids express themselves creatively while learning patience and discipline . Music helps them manage emotions and grow resilience.
Students learn to follow instructions and build consistent practice habits. They also develop respect for their mentors, time, and personal growth.
